Christmas has come early for Alex when he visited the Ginetta Car factory in Garforth, Leeds to check out the race car he will drive next year, after winning the 2014 Ginetta Junior Scholarship.
Based in Garforth just outside Leeds, Ginetta has been building race and road cars for over 55 years and pride themselves on the hand built nature of their cars. Alex’s Ginetta Junior race car he will race next year will take a team of skilled Ginetta race engineers just over two weeks to build and should be ready just before Christmas.
“The majority of parts for my race car are fabricated and assembled at the Ginetta factory and it was amazing to see all the attention to detail and work that goes into creating each car” commented Alex.
Whilst Alex was at the Ginetta factory, he also had the chance to look around some of the historic race cars on display including the Le Mans 24 Hours Ginetta Zytek LMP1 car and class winning Panoz Esperante GTLM GT2 car driven by Ginetta’s owner Lawrence Tomlinson to victory in 2006.
“It was fantastic having a chance to see Lawrence’s Le Mans winning car and hopefully one day I can repeat his achievement and stand on top of the podium” said Alex.
Alex’s next appointment is to attend the end of season Ginetta Awards Evening this month then a short break before he starts testing ready for 2014.
