2014 has only just started and Alex’s hard work and success in 2013 has been rewarded by being shortlisted for an award in the 2013 Warwick District Sports Awards.

He has been nominated in the Junior Male category for this year’s awards. Alex now has to wait until the Awards’ Evening on the 17thJanuary to see if he will be lucky enough to pick up his first award of 2014.

The awards, which recognise sporting achievements of individuals living in the local area, are sponsored by Warwick District Council and the Leamington Courier newspaper. The initial shortlist of nominees is made up from submissions from the readers of the Leamington Courier newspaper; from this the individual winner is decided.

“It was a lovely surprise and nice way to start 2014 to hear I had been nominated for an award. I am really looking forward to the Awards’ Night and just being nominated is an award in itself” said Alex.

Last year’s award winners included 2013 World Superbike Champion Tom Sykes who picked up the Sports Personality of the Year award.

Alex now has to wait and see if he will join Tom and be a lucky winner in 2014.
