ALEX HEADS TO SPAIN FOR THE FIRST ROUND OF THE 2019 NASCAR WHELEN EURO SERIES

Twenty-year-old Alex Sedgwick from Southam will instead leave his home and head for the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, Spain for the first round of this year’s NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, which kicks off on the 12th April.

This will be Alex’s second year of competing in the NASCAR Whelen Series and as the leading British driver, with a year of experience behind the wheel of his Braxx Racing Chevrolet Camaro, he will be one to watch. As one of Europe’s top racing series the roll call of drivers gets stronger every year, past American NASCAR Champions, Le Mans winning drivers, professional race drivers from around the world, and now this year, ex Formula 1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve, will all line up against Alex, all with one aim: to be the 2019 NASCAR Whelen Series Champion.

“Last year was my learning year in the championship and racing with American NASCAR Champion Bobby Labonte, this time last year in Valencia, side by side for lap after lap was an unbelievable experience. I cannot wait to get back to Valencia to kick off the season and this year I aim to win." Commented Alex.

Alex races in the top class of the Euro NASCAR Series – Elite 1 – and will be racing against ex Formula One Champion Jacques Villeneuve in the 13-race series which will come to the UK in June, for the Brands Hatch round.

“Lining up on the grid with Jacques will be quite strange as the last time I saw him was when I was nine and I was a guest of Peugeot Sport at the 2008 Le Mans 24 Hours race, he was driving one of the Peugeot 908 LMP1 cars. I was racing karts then and now eleven years later we will both be lining up on the grid together”, remarked Alex.

Alex will contest two races in Valencia next weekend, and for this year he will be joined in the team by another local driver, Scott Jeffs from Stratford upon Avon, to make it an all British team.

Alex will also be helping to promoting Warwickshire business interests in Europe as this year he will be supported by Emergency Vehicle Products Ltd who are based in Warwick, and the EVP logo will adorn Alex’s No 90 Braxx Racing Camaro.
